Any great ideas for decorating the Honeymoon Suite?
I will be decorating the honeymoon suite for a friend, and wondered if anyone had any great ideas? I’ll be doing the usual scattered flower petals and flowers, candles and filled tub with bubble bath; but wanted some new and different ideas too. Please, nothing gross or too risque (no sex toys, etc.).
Thanks for your help!

get silk sheets
The only thing I would say, is don’t put your stamp on it. Make your theme ‘private and secluded’ as they don’t want to be thinking of who did the decorating, just of each other. On my wedding night, the owner of the chalet walked us to the room and came in and showed us around, talking for over 10 minutes. It totally killed the mood and I felt that he had intruded. You sound like you have got some great ideas. Make sure you have some nice, light and fresh food for them, they will be hungry but probably feel a bit overindulged after the rich reception food. Leave some nice paper and pen for them to write notes to each other. Just try to make it homey and not to girly so it doesn’t overwhelm they groom. Body chocolate is nice too!
Melody has the right answer.
The candles, petals, flowers and the tub is a great idea! Without going too risque, try throwing condoms and rose petals on the bed. Leave them whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate (sauce or body paint), and champagne in the refrigerator!
Sounds like plenty! Make sure there are lots of fluffy towels and bathrobes. You can place a pretty flower on the edge of the tub, and another one on top of a stack of towels. You could set out a small bottle of massage oil, too.
Honestly, they dont need much- candles, bath, rose petals on the bed. Just make it all look really pretty, clean, and inviting!
Honestly, I’d skip the rose petals and put a few long stemmed roses on the bed or on their pillows. Rose petals are a pain to clean up and I’d be afraid of staining my dress if I sat on one. Putting nicer sheets on the bed would be a plus, but nicer sheets are expensive, so think about how you would either get them back from the hotel, or make sure the couple knows to take them with them.
Candles are nice, but can be a fire hazard if left unattended. Set them up, then leave a long tipped lighter (fire stick, whatever) in an easy to find place for the couple to light them). If you absolutely MUST leave them unattended, try to keep them on non-flammable surfaces like ceramic, and watch out for loose fabrics like curtains and blankets. Hurricane holders are a good idea as well. Again, you’ll want to make arrangements to retrieve these from the hotel if you want them back. Try to get unscented candles.
Don’t fill the tub for them – the water may be cold by the time they get around to getting in it. Instead, leave some nice robes and plush towels (you know the drill about the couple taking them) along with some bubble bath and massage oil stacked next to the tub. THat way you’re leaving the option open for what they do.
The two nicest things you can do:
1. Food. Believe it or not, we didn’t get to eat much at the reception – we were busy with guests, dancing, etc., so we were hungry when we got to our room. My BMs left a tray of fruits, cheeses, crackers, etc. for us, as well as some champagne, and more importantly – some bottled water and diet coke. Sometimes, you just want a plain old glass of water. The banquet manager also had a small tray of mini cannolis, eclairs, etc., sent to our room. (I wanted a Viennese table for our wedding and she made sure I got to have some it it.)
2. Privacy: Nobody should know where the couple is staying if at all possible. Be as discrete as you possibly can when setting up – some people might think it’s funny to come knocking on the door if they know that’s where the newlyweds are staying.
I know I sound like a bit of a kill joy but from personal experience, we where EXHAUSTED after our wedding day and we just wanted to chill out a little. I would have hated to walk into a room of candles and rose petals and felt like I had to be all romantic and sexy when I was just dying to sit down, take off my shoes and relax a little bit. When we came back to our room, we did exactly that – just relaxed and snacked for half an hour or so, just to unwind. Then you feel like being a little more romantic, if you know what I mean… LOL
Nice article. I think that it is like painting and decorating a house. You need colors that compliment each others, decorations that match with the theme and that fit together, in the end create a place that you can live at and be at ease and happy.

You can always leave something different for them to discover depending on how old they are. Such as Bikini hair dye. If anything they might get a good laugh and the prospect of have pink down there.

Is this something the friend asked for? Is this a custom? Hmm
